Pre-order Autumn EP now, out 21/09/18.
'Autumn' is the latest EP from the Kansas Smitty's House Band - marking the changing seasons with deep grooves and heavy swing. Fearless and melodic, this fresh Smitty’s sound is irreverent and it’s here to stay.
Bold improvisation is balanced with typically tight composition on this EP, with unmistakeable solos from Ferg Ireland, Pete Horsfall, Alec Harper, and Will Cleasby. Most notable are Ireland's extended bass work on 'Short Stack' and Harper's screaming saxophone on 'The Valley', while 'The Bipper' is the classic showcase of Smitty's intuitive playing style.
The third in a series of seasonal EPs to be released this year, 'Autumn' pivots this wildly unpredictable octet into a new trajectory, making way for fresh musical innovation both in the studio and on stage.

About Kansas Smitty's House Band
From the moment they played their first note five years ago, the Kansas Smitty's House Band has set out to reinvent how audiences experience jazz. The House Band is a tight-knit outfit that make jazz inclusive with an emphasis on camaraderie, spontaneity, and joy.
The eight-piece group were brought together from diverse backgrounds by American woodwind player, Giacomo Smith. Grounded in a shared love for the whole jazz tradition and recently nominated for best UK Jazz Act by Jazz FM, the group is perpetually inventing new music with the aim that no two shows ever be the same.
2018 is a landmark year with members of the House Band appearing at the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican, Friday Night is Music Night, Boileroom and The Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Centre at the request of Wynton Marsalis.
This year is also a landmark for their cult East London home, Kansas Smitty’s, which turned three in May. The concept of a jazz band that owns its own bar is unprecedented, almost as unprecedented as a band who premieres new music at each show. Their venue has supported hundreds of bands since it opened its doors, providing a stage for them to showcase their own music and reach new audiences.
Kansas Smitty’s cares as much about fostering the creation of new original music as it does about leaving audiences energized. Come and be part of their new wave of jazz.
