about

Following the success of their latest album Broadway 2018 and the release of Mardi Gras Vol. 1 in March, the House Band are finishing the celebratory season with the second in the EP series: Mardi Gras Vol. 2.

The set of EPs feature new music from the House Band, paying homage to the event with which they have long been associated and the rich mix of musical styles that you'll find on the streets on New Orleans during this Fat Tuesday party.

Mardi Gras Vol. 2 begins with the effortlessly infectious crowd-pleaser ‘Ride On’, vocalled by House Band member Pete Horsfall. A catchy opening number that immediately makes a leap from the rag/swing sounds of Vol. 1 into a contemporary soul-filled groove.

It leads perfectly into ‘Way You’re Living’ - a tune that exists at the intersection of old school rock’n’roll, jazz and gospel vocals.

The melodious, smooth soul track ‘Everybody Loves’ once again features the mellow vocals of Pete Horsfall, while the final track on the EP - 70s-inspired ‘The Grasshopper’ - provides a rich, bass-heavy instrumental exit, underpinned by the funkiest of horns.

Rhys Lewis, long time friend to the band, brought his pop sensibilities to Smitty’s inimitable sound. This successful recording artist and songwriter worked with Giacomo and Pete in his Bermondsey studio on all four tracks.

If Vol. 1 got the party warmed up, Mardi Gras Vol. 2 is the EP that takes the celebrations into the early hours. Available across all digital stores on 18 April.
